The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

While at State I was a member of Army ROTC, Pershing Rifles, and Scabbard and Blade with the intent to make the Army a career. I, before retiring, had some very interesting assignments literally around the world to include three years in Berlin as the officer-in-charge of Checkpoint Bravo and the more famous Checkpoint Charlie. In order to fill that position I had 57 weeks to learn Russian. That was a challenge but Penn State set the stage academically for me to accomplish that task. Today I am a senior security manager at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee-another highly demanding position that Penn State gave me the background to be successful in a stressful environment. There are numerous other Penn Staters here at Y-12 also. Penn State gave us all a great foundation to be successful. Here in a sea of orange-the University of Tennessee is here in Knoxville-we are all still Penn State proud!
